HallMark at the 31st AVESA Congress – Calvià 2026
Following our earlier sponsorship announcement, HallMark Veterinary & Compliance Services was pleased to attend the 31st AVESA Congress of Veterinary Public Health, held on 12–13 March 2026 in Calvià, Mallorca.
The congress brought together professionals from across veterinary public health — researchers, inspectors, academics and policy specialists — for two days of scientific exchange and professional discussion. The programme explored how veterinary expertise continues to support food safety systems, zoonotic disease monitoring and public health protection in a rapidly changing global environment.
The event also received strong institutional support, with the attendance of Marga Prohens, President of the Government of the Balearic Islands, and Juan Antonio Amengual, Mayor of Calvià, highlighting the importance of veterinary public health within regions where tourism plays a major economic role.
Veterinary Public Health and Tourism
One of the key themes discussed during the congress was the relationship between veterinary public health and tourism. In destinations such as the Balearic Islands, where international visitors arrive in large numbers each year, maintaining high standards in food safety, zoonotic disease surveillance and sanitary controls is essential.
Veterinary professionals play a central role in supporting these systems — from monitoring risks to ensuring that hygiene standards and official controls remain robust across food production and hospitality environments.
Knowledge Sharing Across the Sector
The congress programme brought together speakers from academia, regulatory bodies and the veterinary profession. Topics ranged from food safety in tourism settings to sustainability, zoonotic disease monitoring, hygiene training and official controls in mobile food establishments and large-scale public events.
These discussions created valuable opportunities for knowledge exchange and professional dialogue between colleagues working in different areas of veterinary public health.
The event also provided an opportunity to reconnect with members of the wider veterinary community, including Amelia García Ara, Associate Professor at the University of Nottingham, and Miguel Arranz, Veterinary Manager for Training & Consulting in Animal Welfare and Food Safety at Bristol Veterinary School Professional Services.
Continuing the Conversation
As supporters of the congress, HallMark was pleased to take part in discussions that continue to advance veterinary public health across Europe and beyond. Events such as AVESA help strengthen collaboration between academia, regulators and industry while encouraging the sharing of knowledge and practical experience across the profession.
HallMark would like to thank the AVESA organising committee, speakers and participants for delivering an engaging and well-organised event. We look forward to continuing to support initiatives that promote collaboration and progress within veterinary public health.
