A Catch-Up for the Exports Team

On a Saturday in March, away from the usual sites, systems and schedules, a small group from HallMark’s Exports team and Head Office met for lunch at The Bull’s Head.

The occasion was a belated Christmas get-together for Alejandra’s team, a chance to step back from the day-to-day and spend some time together in person.

There were no speeches or formalities. Just ten colleagues sharing good food, conversation and a welcome break from the usual routine.

As with many teams spread across different regions, most interactions tend to happen over calls and messages rather than face to face. For some, this was one of the few opportunities to meet in person, making it all the more worthwhile.

The atmosphere was relaxed and easy-going. Conversation moved between recent work, shared experiences and the sort of light chat that rarely fits into a busy working day. It was a chance to catch up properly and enjoy each other’s company.

While the lunch had originally been intended as a Christmas celebration, it also came at a timely moment for Alejandra, as she prepares for maternity leave. It offered a natural opportunity to wish her well for the months ahead, without making it the focus of the day.

Across HallMark, the work is often busy and structured, but occasions like this highlight the value of taking time out to connect. Strong working relationships aren’t built on calls and schedules alone, but through moments like these. A straightforward lunch, a good catch-up, and a reminder of the people behind the work.
