HallMark Official Veterinarian Olivia Completes Northumberland Coast Mighty Hike
A fantastic challenge, a brilliant cause and one very well earned finish line.
HallMark Official Veterinarian Olivia, who works within our WW3 Official Controls team, has completed the Northumberland Coast Mighty Hike Full Marathon, taking on the challenge on Saturday 5 September to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Olivia crossed the finish line having exceeded her original fundraising target, thanks to contributions from colleagues, friends, family and HallMark.
It was a fantastic personal achievement and an impressive fundraising effort for a charity providing vital support to people living with cancer and their families.
Taking on the Mighty Hike
Macmillan Mighty Hikes bring people together to take on long distance walking challenges while raising funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.
For Olivia, that meant taking on the Northumberland Coast Full Marathon, pushing herself across a demanding route while raising money to help Macmillan support people living with cancer.
As the photos show, the route took Olivia and her fellow walkers through some spectacular Northumberland scenery, including beautiful stretches of coastline, before reaching a memorable finish beneath Bamburgh Castle.
There were blue skies for parts of the route, rather more dramatic skies waiting at the finish, and plenty of miles in between!
Olivia took on the challenge alongside fellow walkers in their Team Macmillan green, supporting and encouraging one another along the way. Judging by the smiles, flowers and raised arms at the finish line, those final steps were certainly worth celebrating.
HallMark was pleased to contribute to Olivia's fundraising and help support the cause. After completing the hike, Olivia shared the good news with us: “I completed the hike on Saturday and have exceeded my fundraising target thanks to contributions like yours.”
While we were pleased to play a small part through our donation, the real achievement belongs to Olivia and everyone who put in the preparation, determination and miles to reach that finish line.
More Than a Walk
Taking on a Mighty Hike requires commitment and determination, particularly when there are still miles ahead and tired legs start to make themselves known.
It is also a great example of what can be achieved when people come together behind a shared cause.
We are always pleased to hear about the interests, achievements and fundraising activities our colleagues pursue outside their day-to-day roles. They give us an opportunity to celebrate the people behind HallMark and recognise colleagues who are prepared to challenge themselves while making a difference to others.
