HallMark OVs Recognised by FSA and APHA for Disease Detection Excellence

Exemplary Action from HallMark OVs Acknowledged by FSA and APHA

We are proud to share a recent example of professionalism and dedication shown by two of our Official Veterinarians, Paria Moradian and Povilas Racius.

During a routine inspection, Paria and Povilas identified clinical signs that raised concern for a potential notifiable disease. Despite the disruption this could cause, they acted swiftly and responsibly by escalating the issue to the appropriate authorities. Their vigilance and professional judgement ensured a timely response from the Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA).

Both were commended by APHA at the time for the quality of their evidence and the clarity of their reporting, and we are pleased to note that senior FSA colleagues also acknowledged their handling of the case as an example of best practice in safeguarding animal health and food safety.

Paria and Povilas’ actions are a testament to the importance of veterinary judgement, integrity, and courage,  even when decisions are difficult. Their work has upheld the trust placed in our teams by industry and regulators alike.

As part of our growing Reward and Recognition Programme, we are proud to nominate both Paria and Povilas for internal recognition. Their example will be featured in our upcoming newsletter to encourage similar excellence across all areas of Official Controls.
